Wärtsilä Australia has released the Oilcube and Gas Cube self-contained power generation stations for remote applications.
The units deliver an output between 5 to 30MW of power, and can be scaled up by adding another Cube.
The solution is said to be fully self-contained cabinet units which come in kit form. A cube is built around each complete module. It is suited for users who do not have major construction and project handling resources but require a complete power production on-site.
The units are based on a 9MW engine configuration, and the manufacturer claims they are cheaper to erect than traditional power stations, requiring no real cutting or pickling of pipes. The engine is transported on a low loader vehicle, while the remainder of the power station can be brought in on a standard truck.
