SIEMENS Industry Automation Division has upgraded the Simatic Maintenance Station software for diagnosing and maintaining plants and machinery.

Simatic Maintenance Station Version 2009 now has functions for the efficient planning and monitoring of maintenance operations and jobs. Devices in the field can access the Simatic Maintenance Station software via a web client for remote maintenance applications.

The Simatic Maintenance Station is also a software option for the Simatic WinCC SCADA system. It supports preventive, condition-based, and reactive maintenance activities of a plant in a central system.

Simatic Maintenance Station visualises diagnostic and maintenance information of PCs, network components, controllers, switching, protection and control units, as well as drives.

By presenting the plant operator with a uniform and clear status display, the Simatic Maintenance Station software allows clear identification of components, systems and plant units for individual assessment and response.

According to Siemens, the Simatic Maintenance Station software contributes to lower maintenance costs and higher productivity. All operations are message-based and can be archived in a database. This database can then be analysed with WinCC.
