DWYER Instruments has released a dual channel leak detection relay for monitoring the shaft seal of submersible pumps to detect leaks before failure.
According to the manufacturer, the DLD series detects leaks by sensing the status of a float or conductivity switch installed in the seal cavity.
When the resistance from the switch drops below a certain level of sensitivity, a leak is detected, and the output relay is activated, illuminating a light emitting diode indicator.
The company said the leak detection relay can be configured to activate an alarm and power down the pump on when a leak is detected. When the seal failure is detected to have cleared, the relay resets.
