CHLOR*RID International has released the Chlor*Ion Meter, a hand-held digital testing device to detect dangerous chloride contamination and corrosion on structural surfaces.
According to CHLOR*RID International, the Chlor*Ion Meter electronically measures chloride with an internal ion-specific electrode, and may be used on dams, tanks, mills, process equipment, industrial facilities, pipes, and structures like bridges and highways.
The internal electrode is said to render the Chlor*Ion Meter more suited for rugged field use. CHLOR*RID International claims other devices which use an external electrode on a cord can be damaged easily in the field.
CHLOR*RID International claims the Chlor*Ion Meter provides lab-quality results, and reduces the cost per test by eliminating the need for a glass titrator tube as needed with non-digital tests.
The Chlor*Ion Meter allows the user to log job name or number and location of test with an alpha-numeric keypad, and records all readings electronically. The data can be downloaded to a spreadsheet when the instrument is connected via USB to a computer.
