VEOLIA Environmental Services says it has negotiated a long-term partnership with Rio Tinto to provide industrial services for operations on Australia’s eastern seaboard.

Veolia will provide industrial solutions, including abrasive blasting, high-pressure water jetting, vacuum loading and recovery, protective coatings, spill and emergency response, refractory management, scaffolding, building maintenance, waste management and resource recovery services.

The 10-year contract will cover major sites along the east-coast of Australia including several sites where Veolia is already established including Boyne Smelters in Gladstone, Queensland.

According to Veolia, the contract was negotiated earlier in 2009, but the announcement has only recently been made.
