Veolia reports reduced energy use

VEOLIA Environmental Services has released its 2009 Energy Efficiency Report in response to the Federal Government’s Energy Efficiency Opportunities Program.
The Energy Efficiency Opportunities Program aims to encourage large businesses that use more than 0.5 petajoules (PJ) of energy per year to improve their energy efficiency.
These companies should recognize, evaluate and report on opportunities where they can attain energy savings.
According to Veolia, it identified opportunities where it could significantly attain energy savings.
Veolia optimised its machinery at its Clyde Transfer Terminal in Sydney. It opted to trial machine-specific Awareness Reduction Units on its high energy-using machinery, rather than use standard power factor correction.
Veolia says it has saved over 700GJ of electricity per year from results so far.
The company has also reduced idling in its waste collection trucks, and implemented route planning to reduce fuel use.
