GE COMMERCIAL Finance is helping St Barbara fund heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for its Gwalia mine in Western Australia.

The $20m agreement will enable to the mineral explorer to complete the mining facility at the site, extending the mine site beyond the current life expectancy of nine years.

Besides the refrigeration plant and surface ventilation fans, GE is also financing the accommodation units and a paste fill plant.

Production at Gwalia is scheduled to commence in September and will accelerate over the next six months.
