Six steps to a more efficient compressed air system

EXAIR says six steps can make compressed air systems more efficient, perhaps enhancing plant performance in a difficult economy.

Firstly, technicians should measure the air consumption of the system. This can be done using a digital flow meter.

Secondly, locate and fix any compressed air leaks in the system by using an ultrasonic leak detector.

Blow off applications can be upgraded with engineered products to help enhance efficiency.

Compressed air should be turned off when not needed for production. It is possible to control this automatically by using electronic flow control units.

Compressed air should be stored near the point of use through receiver tanks or other devices.

Lastly, it is possible to minimise air consumption by controlling the pressure at the point of use through the use of pressure regulators.
