SIEMENS says it has successfully delivered a complete power plant solution for Santos, on time, under budget, and meeting the project’s Environmental Health and Safety targets.

Siemens says the Energy division undertook the Santos project from January to October 2008. It worked on the Jackson Oil Facility, which produces oil from surrounding oil fields and exports the product via pipelines.

Siemens’ role was to provide an 8MW industrial gas turbine, an 11kV outdoor substation and indoor switchboard, and the Balance of Plant.

Siemens made use of its existing relationship with its Adelaide Turbomachinery workshop, providing a modular turnkey solution which met the needs of Santos.

According to Siemens, the new high voltage distribution system was quick to install, and is both safer and easier to maintain. The Jackson facility now has a reliable power supply which can meet existing and forecast load requirements without having to limit oil production.
