Safely cleaning concrete pumping equipment

Safely cleaning concrete pumping equipment

WORKSAFE Victoria has released a safety alert regarding the cleaning of concrete pumping equipment.
According to WorkSafe Victoria, a number of precautions need to be followed when cleaning out concrete pumping equipment.
The end-hose needs to be secured or removed before cleaning to prevent the hose whipping around. The discharge end of the pipeline needs to be fitted with a cage to safely catch the cleaning device but at the same time, allow the concrete to flow.
Workers should keep clear of the discharge end while the concrete is under pressure, and there should be no attempts to dismantle the pipeline while it is still under pressure.
