MAXITEC says sheetmetal machinery used by serious fabricators need specialised and qualified maintenance.
While such equipment used to survive on self-maintenance, Maxitec claims that, like cars, the complexities of modern machinery means unqualified in-house maintenance could seriously damage the machines.
Servo electric motors, powerful software, lasers, sensors and highly technical control systems have replaced simple mechanical systems. Maxitec claims backup service and maintenance is now an imperative for the sheetmetal and machine tool industry.
Maxitec says managers of factories should withstand the pressure to keep machines operating at all times without stopping. The company says routine stops of a couple of hours a week, or a couple of days a year could enhance the outcome.
Unqualified maintenance, Maxitec says, can also have serious OH&S implications.
