PT Hydraulics provides hydraulic hose maintenance tips

PT HYDRAULICS has provided information on some measures which could be used to maintain hydraulic hoses.

Hydraulic hoses often experience wear and tear, and like all tools and pumps, should be subject to regular checks after each use or training session.

Damaged or leaking hoses can cause serious injury if left unchecked. The full length of hoses should be checked, as well as the end fitting to hose reel to ensure no oil leaks on the inner hub.

Defects commonly inflicted on hydraulic hoses include marks, cuts, splits and swollen points on the surface, brittle or cracking outer layers, kinks and bends and damaged hose fittings that are parting or leaking.

If these defects are present, hose failure may occur. Damaged hoses should be withdrawn from service and replaced.
