OPCON will deliver five Opcon Powerboxes to CoGen ORC Power for installation in Western Australia’s Kimberly, Pilbara, Gasgoyne, mid-west and southern Goldfields regions.

The Opcon Powerboxes will be supplied to mines, pipeline compressor pump stations, aluminium smelters, cement producers and remote regional centres and communities, which are predominantly powered by on-site fossil fuel electricity generation systems.

The Opcon Powerboxes produces carbon-free electricity from waste heat at temperatures as low as 55 degrees Celsius. The standard Opcon Powerbox is at 0.74MW and can be installed in large factories and plants and power stations.

According to Opcon, the vast distances in Australia and the high electricity prices makes waste heat recycling a very attractive proposition, especially to clients who are off the grid.
