ROCKWELL Automation has released a new white paper which tells of how to reduce facilities’ energy consumption with HVAC control upgrade technology.
The paper, titled “Leveraging the Power of Intelligent Motor Control to Maximize HVAC System Efficiency” outlines a new option to help convert constant volume HVAC systems to variable air volume (VAV) control.
According to the company, the option helps reduce the cost and complexity typically associated with changing mechanical or building automation control systems.
Rockwell Automation says by adjusting fan speeds, the upgrade option helps reduce energy consumption, achieving return on investment in a relatively short time.
The company claims the integrated control solution is a self-contained unit for easy installation, delivering more energy savings at a fraction of the cost of a traditional hardware retrofit.
The unit includes temperature and carbon dioxide sensors, a microcontroller, a high-performance variable frequency drive, and a touch-screen operator interface. The HVAC fans are controlled by a variable frequency drive which adjust according to heating and cooling needs.
