THE FEDERAL Government has announced 13 manufacturers will benefit from its Re-tooling for Climate Change program.
The latest announcement in the Re-tooling for Climate Change program involves $2.5m in grants which will be used by companies to reduce water use or greenhouse gas emissions.
Projects to be funded by the grants include water treatment and recycling, converting production waste into energy, re-using waste heat from the production process, technology investment and process re-engineering to cut energy or water consumption.
For example, Precision Parts in Wagga Wagg, NSW, is receiving $41,878 in Re-tooling for a power reduction project to which will involve the installation of power factor corrector equipment and a variable speed drive air compressor.
According to the government, the Re-tooling for Climate Change program’s decision making committees will be meeting more frequently to increase the speed at which applications for grants are assessed.
