Leak at Exxon Mobil’s Altona Refinery

EXXON Mobil says it detected a leak in an unleaded petrol tank in the Blending storage area at Altona Refinery on 8 February 2010.
As a result, the Altona Refinery’s emergency response procedures were activated. The company notified the EPA, WorkSafe, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, and the police.
Exxon Mobil says it has fully contained the leak and applied foam as a precautionary measure. It does not expect any environmental impact from the issue, and there are no injuries.

The fuel in the tank is being transferred to another tank, and materials integrity specialists will assess the integrity of the tank. An initial assessment indicate no structural issues.
