K.E Brown develops cost-efficient power monitoring system

K.E. BROWN Electric Switchboards has developed a cost-efficient way to monitor industrial power use on-screen and in real time.

K.E. Brown’s computerised system links into branch circuit monitors to measure the individual current draw of each breaker in a distribution board, so switchboard controllers can see how much power individual circuits are drawing at any particular time.

According to K.E. Brown, the system can be linked to a multifunction meter which monitors the overall distribution board parameters and can display data such as volts, kilowatts and power factor.

The on-screen information shows the amount of load being drawn to power particular building services and essential technologies, such as lighting, HVAC and Refrigeration, data processing and production equipment.

K.E Brown says it has implemented the system at its Warriewood headquarters, allowing operators to react immediately to make adjustments needed to achieve energy efficiency and systems security.

The system also has warnings and alarms which can be set to advise the operator of impending problems.

K.E. Brown says the system is an alternative to having to install a complete sophisticated BMS Building Interface management system.
