Gas explosion cloud has maintenance silver lining

MINARA is making the best of a bad situation by carrying out plant maintenance following operations interruption due to gas shortage.

The explosion and subsequent fire at Apache Energy’s Varanus Island gas export facility continues to have follow-on effects on the gas supplies for various industrial operations.

A few of the companies which have experienced disruptions include Iluka, APA Group, and Telfer. Some have switched to diesel backup supplies, while others have conducted staged shutdowns.

Minara’s Murrin Murrin operation has been interrupted, but management says they will make good use of the downtime to perform plant maintenance.
