EXXON Mobil will shut down its smaller Singaporean refinery for its first major maintenance turnaround since 2007.
The shutdown is timed for May to June 2010. Both crude distillation units in the 296,000 per day Jurong Island refinery will be taken down in stages. Secondary units will also be taken down.
According to industry sources cited by Reuters, the extended planning period for this major shutdown means it will not have a major impact in the market.
Any shortfall will be made up by the other Singaporean refinery, and the middle distillates market is sufficiently weak that refineries have been running at reduced rates.
