Engineers Australia names National Professional Electrical Engineer of the Year

ENGINEERS Australia has named Simon Bartlett its National Professional Electrical Engineer of the Year 2009.

According to the Engineers Australia Electrical College Board, Bartlett’s electrical engineering experience, strategic thinking and leadership skills led to the award.

Bartlett is a chief operating officer for Powerlink Queensland, and manages 12,000km of transmission lines and more than 100 major substations throughout Queensland.

He holds an honours degree in electrical engineering from the University of Queensland, and is chair of the Power Engineering Alliance.
