QUEENSLAND Education and Training Minister Geoff Wilson says the push for energy efficiency will boost the employment opportunities for ‘green’ workers.
In a speech to the Queensland Energy Efficiency Industry Workforce Summit in Brisbane, the minister said electricians, ‘green’ plumbers, solar installers, energy auditors, and sustainable designers are going to be in high demand.
The Queensland government is said to be investing $27.84m in energy apprenticeship and traineeship training, and $5.41m in other vocational training, in order to address the skills shortage in the sustainable energy and energy efficiency sectors.
The minister says the Queensland government has partnered with Energy Skills Queensland to develop the Sustainable Energy Skills Formation Strategy.
