BP suspends Kwinana production due to failed pump and work stoppage

BP partially shut down production at its Kwinana refinery in Western Australia, after a pump failed.

BP shut the plant down early in the week starting 3 August 2009. The Kwinana refinery produces 137,000 barrels of oil per day.

According to the Australia Manufacturing Workers Union, the plant suspension will remain in place as workers are currently engaged in a wage dispute, which will see them ramp up work stoppages from one hour per day to five hours per day.
